2K Games has been the victim of a recent hacking attempt and has now warned fans to avoid emails that may have come from the company’s Support account. While many video game fans have been focused this week on the Rockstar Games hack, 2K is now dealing with its own situation as well. Unfortunately, it is this 2K-related hack that may now have a real impact on those who have previously played the publisher’s games.
2K Games informed players on social media this morning that a third party had recently hacked its help desk platform and, as a result, sent an email to certain people containing a harmful link. In light of this situation, 2K issued an immediate warning to players to avoid opening any emails of this nature. If people have already clicked on this link, 2K recommends that passwords associated with specific web browsers be changed. It also encouraged those who may have been hacked to install anti-virus software and enable two-factor authentication on various accounts.

“We discovered earlier today that an unauthorised third party illegally gained access to one of our vendors’ credentials to the help desk platform that 2L uses to provide support to our customers. An unauthorised party sent a message to certain players that contained a malicious link. Please do not open any emails or click any links from the 2K Games support account “2K’s statement should be read. “Please keep in mind that 2K personnel will never request your password or other personal information. We will notify you when you can resume interacting with official 2K help desk emails, and we will also provide you with additional information on how to protect yourself from malicious activity.”
Overall, parent company Take-Two Interactive has had a difficult week. Not only is it dealing with this new situation involving 2K Games, but it is also dealing with another hack aimed at Rockstar Games, which resulted in numerous videos related to Grand Theft Auto 6 leaking onto the internet. Although these two incidents appear to be unrelated, the fact that they occurred so close together is undoubtedly making for a hectic time at Take-Two.
